Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Thursday, August 9, 2001 Page D5 Obituaries John Ikeda MOSCOW, IDAHO Service for John Isamu Ikeda, 80, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow with a reception to follow at the University Inn in Moscow. Mr. Ikeda, who was born in Libby, died Sunday.

He lived in Libby and played high school basketball and football. In 1939 his family moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where he graduated from high school. Mr. Ikeda worked for the Great Northern Railroad on a section gang and later served with the Army from 1941-1944. He returned to North Idaho after his military service and earned a degree in business from the University of Idaho in 1948 under the G.I.

Bill. He also played baseball at UI. He married Mae Ouye Tanabe in 1965. Mr. Ikeda took the CPA exam and joined the Controller's Office at UI as an assistant accountant and was promoted to administrative accountant in 1968.

He was appointed the business manager and assistant athletic director in 1973 and remained in that position until retiring in 1983. During his time at UI he served as the official timekeeper at Vandal football and basketball games and was a Vandal Booster. He was inducted into the Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993 for his community service and outstanding achievement as an athlete citizen. He also served as the faculty advisor and treasurer of local Tau Kappa Epsilon. Mr.

Ikeda was a charter member of the Moscow Bowlerama and served as city association secretary for many years. He was inducted into the Moscow Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1968. He was a member and former president of the Moscow Lions Club and a member of the Moscow Elks and Moose lodges, Paradise Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Calam Temple, Latah County Shrine Club, the Moscow Executive Association and Dudley Loomis American Legion. He also met with the Nobby Inn Coffee Group for many years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lynn Grannan of Beaverton, a son, Robert Tanabe of Boise; three sisters, Irene Kjos of Spokane, Jean Bitow of Tacoma and Lucille Briggs of Lynnwood, and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Moscow Volunteer Ambulance Fund or the Vandal Boosters. Albert Reeve SPOKANE Memorial Mass for Albert "Lynn" Reeve, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ritzville, Wash. Burial will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

The Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Reeve, who was born in Washtucna, died Sunday. He was a 20-year resident of Spokane. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and returned to the area after his discharge.

He married Patricia Ann Gillis in 1954. Mr. Reeve first worked for the Department of Agriculture and as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He then owned and operated his own business that installed furnaces and air conditioners and did specialized sheet metal work.

He also worked as a service man for the Columbia Gas which was purchased by Washington Water Power. He was transferred to Spokane in 1981 and retired from WWP in 1988. Before moving to Spokane Mr. Reeve was a resident of Ritzville for 28 years. While living there he had been a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge and had been a volunteer firefighter for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Sheldon Reeve of Davenport, David Reeve of Memphis, and Bruce Reeve of Metaline, two daughters, Debra of Seattle and Linda Harold of Renton, two brothers, Gene of Connell, and Neil of Ritzville; three sisters, Frances Robins of Kahlotus, Betty Clark of Medical Lake and Yvonne Rushmeier of Oakesdale, and 11 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Sandra (Sonderman) Hill SPOKANE Service for Sandra Jean (Sonderman) Hill, 56, will be at 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Mrs.

Hill, who was born in Spokane, died Aug. 1. She was a 40-year resident of Spokane. She had owned and operated a home for the elderly. Mrs.

Hill was a member of the Change Point organization at Spokane Falls Community College. Survivors include two sons, Rich Blakesly and Brian Hill, both of Spokane; a daughter, Tonya Bell of Spokane; a sister, Sherrie VanDine of California; and two grandchildren. Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sullivan, who was born in Missoula, died Monday. She was a 56-year resident of Moses Lake. She grew up in Alberton, Superior and Missoula, Mont. She moved to Spokane in 1933, then to Moses Lake in 1945.

Mrs. Sullivan married B.J. "Cy" McLean and had five children. The couple later divorced, and she married John C. Sullivan.

She worked as a dispatcher for the Moses Lake Police Department until her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Sullivan was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her husband died earlier. Survivors include two sons, Cyrus McLean of Spokane and Kevin McLean of Seattle; two daughters, Shannon Glass of Moses Lake and Lynne Birmingham of Seattle; two stepsons, John Sullivan of Portland and Ken Sullivan of Seattle; nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Fatima Building Fund. Charles Dechenne ST. JOHN, WASH. Funeral for Charles L. Dechenne, 89, will be at 11 a.m.

today at St. John United Methodist Church. Burial will follow a St. John Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dechenne, who was born in Sprague, died Sunday. He was a lifetime resident of St. John. He grew up on the family farm near St.

John and graduated from Ewan (Wash.) High School. He attended Washington State College and Cheney Normal School. Mr. Dechenne married Martha Steinke in 1933. The couple had operated the Steinke family farm near St.

John since 1935. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Eaton Grange for more than 70 years. He also had served on the Ewan school board. Survivors include his wife Martha, three sons, Lloyd Dechenne and Dale Dechenne, both of St.

John, and Donald Dechenne of Newport, a daughter, Betty Baugh of Bethany, two brothers, Dean Dechenne and Virgil Dechenne, both of St. John; a sister, Nancy Smith of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist. Jackie (Anderson) Wilson POTLATCH, IDAHO Visitation for Jackie Joyce (Anderson) Wilson, 64, will be from 9 a.m.

to 9 p.m. today at the Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. No public service will be held. Inurnment will be at Mendenhall Cemetery near Potlatch. Mrs.

Wilson, who was born in Palouse, died Sunday. She was a longtime resident of Potlatch. She grew up in Deary, Idaho, Clarkston, and Potlatch and graduated from Potlatch High School. She then married Corbett Plumley, and the couple lived in Potlatch. They later divorced.

She married Norman Wilson in 1976 and continued living in Potlatch. Mrs. Wilson owned and operated an upholstery business in Potlatch for 29 years before retiring in 1989. Survivors include her husband, Norman; a daughter, Darlene Kroll of Princeton, Idaho; a brother, Harold Anderson of Potlatch; a half-sister, Mildred Wainright of Walla Walla; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Palouse or the Potlatch Ambulance Fund.

Roderick Chappel KETTLE FALLS, WASH. Funeral Mass for Roderick Anthony Chappel, 28, will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Michael Mission in Inchelium, Wash. Burial will follow at Hallcreek Cemetery in Inchelium.

Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Chappel was born and raised in Spokane and moved last year to Western Washington. He died July 25. He was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

He traveled to Russia, England and Holland to play soccer at the elite level. Mr. Chappel worked as a custom knifemaker, taught by his father. Survivors include his parents, Carol J. Chappel of Spokane and Roderick C.

Chappel of Edmonds, and his fiancee, Linsey Phillips of Chicago. Edward N. Hamacher SPOKANE Memorial Mass for Edward Hamacher, 82, will be held at today at Sacred Heart Roman Church, Hennessey-Smith Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hamacher, who was born in Spokane, died last Thursday.

He was a 54-year resident of Spokane and grew up in Spirit Lake, Idaho. He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1940 before receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University in N. 10 a.m. Catholic Funeral Hamacher Washington, D.C., in 1943. He was an assistant physician to the Washington Redskins football team in 1945.

Mr. Hamacher opened his practice in the downtown Paulsen Building in 1947. He closed his practice in 1952 to serve as a captain in the 6th Army Medical Corps during the Korean War. During his two years of service he was the chief of plastic surgery at the Fort Campbell Medical Center in Kentucky. He reopened his practice after the war and in 1966 pioneered a cleft Michael Wright SEATTLE Funeral for Michael James Wright, 25, was held Wednesday at the North Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Spokane.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Spokane Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wright, who was bom in Yakima, was a 14-year resident of Spokane before moving to Seattle last year. He died Sunday of Lymphoma.

He attended Woodridge Elementary and Northwood Junior High and was a 1994 graduate of Mead High School. Mr. Wright served a two-year mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Phoenix. He married Mindy Rhoda in 2000. He worked in computer sales at HewlettPackard.

Survivors include his wife; his parents, William and Joy Wright of Seattle; three brothers, Scott Wright of Pullman, and Rob Wright and Mark Wright, both of Bothell, and a sister, Cammie of Bothell. Donald Robinson SPOKANE, Service will be held at 6 p.m. today for Donald E. Robinson, 46, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435, 212 S. David.

Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robinson, who was born on Guam, died Friday. He was a 10-year resident of Spokane. He previously resided in Alhambra, Calif.

He was a graduate of Santa Monica (Calif.) High School and completed a twoyear technical degree in auto mechanics at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his mother, Clara Robinson, a sister, Sharon Walker, and a brother, Gary Robinson, all of Spokane. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association. George Stahoske PEORIA, ARIZ.

Funeral for George F. Stahoske, 91, will be held at 9:30 a.m. today at Sunwest Funeral Home in El Mirage, Ariz. Mr. Stahoske, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He was a longtime resident of Spokane before moving to Arizona in 1980. He attended Gonzaga University and worked as a creamery manager for many years until retiring in 1980. James Skaar SANDPOINT Service for James Eldred Skaar, 74, will be today at 1 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint.

Burial will be held on Monday at Paullina, lowa. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Skaar, who was born in Beatrice, died Monday. He served with the Navy during World War ll.

He married Margaret "Peggy" Wright in 1975. Mr. Skaar worked as a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers for 26 years, and the couple lived in Hope, Idaho, and spent winters in Yuma, Ariz. He was a member of St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint and St.

Paul Episcopal Church in Yuma. Survivors include his wife; four children, James Jeffries of Phoenix, Michael Jeffries of Sonoma, William Jeffries of Plainfield, and Carolyn Meyer of Novato, a sister, Marilyn Petersen of Hope; and six grandchildren, Theresa, Scott, Kimberly, Jamie, Geoff and Sean. palate surgical procedure. Mr. Hamacher received a law degree from Gonzaga University and began teaching medical law at Gonzaga in 1965.

He was a member of the Gonzaga University Alumni Association and was elected its president in 1948. He also was a regent of Gonzaga University, a past president of the Sacred Heart Medical Center Staff Organization and a board member of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a Spokane County health officer in 1947. Survivors include three sons, Robert Hamacher, Edward Hamacher, and Paul Hamacher, all of Spokane; three daughters, Regina Lorenz of Phoenix, Christina Tubbs of Stillwater, and Lisa Heath of Spokane; the children's mother, Regina Hamacher of Spokane; two sisters, Elizabeth Ranta and Edna Rose Foley; and 10 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or to Gonzaga University.

Alfred Englert SPOKANE Service for Alfred John "Al" Englert, 59, will be at 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Mr. r. Englert, who was born in Buffalo, N.Y., died Monday.

He was a 25-year resident of Spokane. He was a 1959 graduate of Amherst Center High School in Buffalo. Mr. Englert married Suzanne Demler in 1974. The couple moved to Spokane in 1976.

He had worked at St. George's School as the physical plant director for the past seven years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Englert and Nathan Englert, both of Spokane; a daughter, Kelly Englert of Spokane; three brothers, John Englert of Pittsburgh, and Mark Englert and William Englert, both of Buffalo; two sisters, Margaret Grant of Cincinnati and Kathleen Tagliarino of Buffalo; two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. Judith (Mateyka) Snider SPOKANE No public service is planned for Judith "Judy" (Mateyka) Snider, 64. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Snider, who was born in New York City, died Monday. She was a 53-year resident of Spokane.

She attended the University of Delaware and was a graduate of Eastem Washington University. Mrs. Snider taught art for School District 81 for many years and also was an interior decorator. She was a member of the Spokane Club. Survivors include her husband, Robert Snider; and a sister, Barbara, of San Francisco.

James Porter HAYDEN, IDAHO Service for James G. Porter, 62, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene. Mr.

Porter, who was born in Maghera, Northern Ireland, died Monday. He lived in California and worked as a self-employed cement contractor. He married Grace Goertzen in 1980. They settled in Hayden in 1995. He most recently had worked as operations manager for Bio Globe Tech Inc.

Thaddeus Ted' Rybicki HAYDEN, IDAHO No service will be held for Thaddeus M. "Ted" Rybicki, 84, at his request.

Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d'Alene is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rybicki, who was born in Chicago, died Friday. He grew up in Chicago and spent summers at many retreats in Wisconsin before serving with the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr.

Rybicki settled in California after his military service and lived in various areas before living on the Snake River in Northern California. He moved to Coeur d'Alene in the early 1990s. He enjoyed music, photography, roller skating and bowling. Survivors include a son, Dr. Daniel Rybicki; and a sister, Alice Resner.

WEDDINGS Layton-Greenslitt LYNNWOOD, WASH. Erica Greenslitt exchanged wedding vows with Ryan Layton in an April 21 ceremony at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church in Spokane.
