Versus 「対戦モード, Versus」is a playable game mode that is unlocked after clearing Cambodia from the Empire of Cats chapter. This game mode offers two different options with the first being Single-Screen 「おすそわけ」in which it is possible for two players to play on one console, and Local Play 「ローカル通信 」 where there are two consoles that are connected together in a local area. Versus was initially introduced in Version 1.0.4 in the Japanese (JP) version of The Battle Cats Unite! then subsequently was made available during the launch dates of the Southeast Asia (SEA) and International (WW) versions.
This game mode offers slightly different content from the Nintendo 3DS and PC Browser versions but ultimately plays the same as the goal is to take out the opponent's Cat Base health by attacking the base or destroying units.
Versus Mode is a unique game mode in which you are battling against another player to see who can take down the other's health points down to zero. This is possible by attacking the enemy's cats or base. The most notable features are the Trait Cannon and Power Level. The Trait Cannon has the ability to inflict damage towards the opposing side as well as applying the trait that the player desires. It also has the ability to stun the enemy so that they are unable to deploy units for a short amount of time. The Power Level is the value of a unit and how much will take off from the player's health if they were to die. Each unit has their own power level so it is important how to balance your team before going into the match.
Before going into the match, there are a few settings the player can set before brawling with their opponent.
The Cat Cannon is replaced with the Trait Cannon in which it can damage Cat Units and the Cat Base as well as applying on of the following traits:
If the player's lineup has no trait targeting Cat Units, the Trait Cannon will list none and inflict no trait.
Each Cat Unit has their own unique power level and can even vary depending on the form used. The following list shows the Power Level of each unit. Note: If their evolved/true forms have a different power level, then it will be listed as well.
When a player defeats an opposing Cat Unit the enemies Power Gauge will lose health.Players are also shown statistics at the end of the battle when the timer ends or when a player wins:
