Looks like LinkedIn selfies are back in style—good to know the ‘remote world’ hasn’t dampened your selfie game! 😄Regarding PEO: it’s like that secret menu at a coffee shop. You may not know what it is, but trust us, it’s worth a try. When my client came to me they needed a solution for tracking employee leave and time off and optimizing payroll management. ⤵They didn't exactly know what the solution to their problem could look like.They just knew that THIS was not sustainable as their team grew: → There wasn't a standardized process for requesting time off.→ Information was scattered and duplicated across different communication channels (Slack, Email, Spreadsheets)→ There were inefficiencies in sharing clear and up-to-date information between employees, the admin and HR manager, and the business owner.So, in Airtable, I created a centralized database connected to dashboards tailored for the different needs of the employees, the admin manager, and the business owner (and taking into consideration everyone's privacy). Now: 🗓️ Employees: Can view their leave balances, holiday calendar, pending holiday requests, and submit new requests through a form - all in the same place. 👁️ Business Owner: Has a view of the days off requested by the employees and can approve/reject them in one click.💰 Admin Manager: Has a continually updated spreadsheet at month-end with the approved leave and sick days for simple payroll processing. No more searching for lost messages. No more manually updating spreadsheet.No more misunderstanding.Simple. Automated.EFFICIENT. #payrollmanagement #efficiency #systems #airtable

Escaping Payroll?Last week, my best friend and colleague Jason Gurgal visited, and we decided to celebrate my (mistakenly) 10-year Dayforce anniversary with an escape room. Turns out it was only 9 years, and my math struggles might have contributed to our need for extra time to finish the room.After an hour of shouting numbers, codes, and pressing every button, we finally escaped, exhausted yet exhilarated, and eager to do another.On the drive home, we debriefed on how we could have done better: more time, knowledge of how many rooms were ahead, and my ability to read numbers correctly. Surprisingly, our conversation shifted to how similar the escape room was to processing payroll on older technology. Not your typical post-escape room chat, but we’re not typical people 😜In traditional payroll models, you're bound by tight timeframes to complete complex tasks in a specific order. In the escape room, Jason and I were in separate cells and couldn't move to the next puzzles until we escaped our cells. This mirrors the issue of not having payroll and time in one application—you can’t start finalizing payroll until WFM, HR, and Payroll are all released from their “cells”As an escape room amateur, I thought we had plenty of time to solve the final puzzle. Just as I was smirking with 20 minutes to spare, a hidden door revealed a more complex room. Similarly, imagine preparing your final payroll entry only to encounter an error requiring a whole new set of solutions. What if you could access audits throughout the entire payroll process, not just at the last minute?Jason and I would have aced that escape room if we could solve puzzles concurrently, enter codes anytime, and know how many rooms were ahead. And yes, if I used my fingers to count.In the end, we asked for and paid for a complex and challenging escape room experience for fun. But no organization would ask for and pay for a similarly complex and challenging environment at work… Right?
